Aside from drawing a standing ovation from the audience during the Oscars, Lady Gaga’s four-song medley that paid tribute to the 50 years of “The Sound of Music” solicited nothing but praises for the singer from many high-profile celebrities that were in attendance that night.
Lady Gaga received sincere appreciation from the 79-year-old Julie Andrews, the original star of the 50-year-old musical film classic, who said that it really warmed her heart listening to the singer’s moving rendition of the four songs in the movie.
The “Cheek to Cheek” singer performed four songs from the film including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favourite Things,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.” Her superb and captivating performance brought the Oscar house down that it actually generated a standing ovation after she was through.
Wearing a classy white Azzedine Alaia gown, Lady Gaga said she was thrilled and honored to be given the opportunity to deliver a very special tribute performance to a great movie classic. And that is why she really put her heart into it to ensure that she captures the essence of the songs.
Crying his eyes out
2015 Grammy big winner Sam Smith was actually stunned by Lady Gaga’s splendid rendition of “The Sound of Music” songs during the Oscars, reports Yahoo! News.
He said that he was not able to control his tears for the riveting performance. Sam Smith delivered the praises to Lady Gaga on his Twitter account by detailing that he legitimately just cried his eyes out at the singer’s Oscar performance.
He was also impressed when Julie Andrews came in and praised Gaga, ending his tweet with ‘Bravo gorgeous x Bravo.’
Lady Gaga’s “The Sound of Music” performance also impressed hotel heiress and fashion icon Paris Hilton.
Also on her Twitter account, Paris Hilton tweeted that she was blown away by Lady Gaga’s performance at the Oscars. She said that Gaga not only looked stunning, her voice is incredible.
Several other celebrities gave their thumbs up to Lady Gaga’s “The Sound of Music” tribute.
LeAnn Rimes Cibrian described the singer’s rendition of a classic as quite stunning. Model Gigi Hadid on the other hand, referred to Lady Gaga’s tribute portion as her favorite 2015 Oscars moment.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson was also impressed that he even wrote that he fully supports the revival of “The Sound of Music” with Lady Gaga as the singer.
Happy for her performance
The 28-year-old Lady Gaga was also very happy for her performance at the Oscars. She has been in the limelight of late because of her recent engagement to fiancé Taylor Kinney and the singer will stay there for a while especially with her riveting Oscars performance.
But it appeared that hitting all the high notes in the classic songs of “The Sound of Music” took the energy out of Lady Gaga. She subsequently posted in Twitter a picture of herself on the floor still in her beautiful white gown while holding on to a martini cocktail in one hand.
She described the picture as her present post-event state and saying what a night it was. Lady Gaga also congratulated all the nominees, performers and winners at the Oscars and indulge everyone to party.
