It seems like the rumor about the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad is starting to build more steam following the announcement by Apple of a new technology which comes with the iOS 9, the American tech giant’s upcoming mobile operating system.
The jumbo-sized Apple tablet shall reportedly be called iPad Pro and shall likely be launched in October this year to mark the one-year market cycle of the iPad Air 2.
Technical personnel from Apple made an announcement about the predictive touch technology that shall come with the iOS 9 during the recently-held Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2015, which may actually pave the way for the Apple-made stylus that has also been rumored to come with the iPad Pro.
Predictive touch
Jason Beaver, senior iOS engineering manager, explained during the ‘What’s New in Cocoa Touch’ session of the WWDC 2015 that the upcoming iOS 9 will not only reduce touch but shall also use curves, velocity and acceleration to predict where a touch input might be headed. Apple has named the core interface framework in iOS 9 as Cocoa Touch, details Apple Insider.
The predictive touch is considered an essential feature of a stylus since it shall make drawing faster and more accurate.
It has been rumored previously that the Apple iPad Pro shall be able to support an Apple-made Bluetooth stylus. Since iOS 9 is likely to be launched this coming fall, which is about the same time as the rolling out of the iPad Pro, it is likely that the stylus which shall be using the predictive touch technology of the iOS 9, will also come with the jumbo-sized iPad, which shall come out of the box with the latest mobile operating system onboard.
It is not clear if the stylus will be bundled with the iPad Pro or not but Apple would surely get more impact for its upcoming tablet if it will bundle the stylus with it.
The iPad Pro has been rumored to come with other technological features including the Force Touch which was used in the Apple Watch, a USB Type C port which was recently showcased for the first time in the new Apple MacBook, and the NFC functionality which would allow the device to become an Apple Pay receiving terminal at retail, but it should be paired with a stylus to do so.
Split screen viewing mode
Since the iPad 4 was unveiled in 2012, the company has been launching its tablets either in November or October. Apple launched its first iPad Air in November 2013 and last year, the iPad Air 2 was unveiled in October.
One of the exciting rumors going around these days is that the iPad Pro will have a split screen viewing mode to enable users to use several applications simultaneously.
The mode is similar to the functionality of the Windows Snap Screen that is part of the key features of the Microsoft Xbox One as well as the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system.
