The next basketball simulation video game from developer 2K Sports, “NBA 2K17,” may still be months away from its official release date but the retail prices of “NBA 2K16” has gone down on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One as well as the last-gen gaming consoles because of a special sale on selected game titles.
The North American PlayStation Store has offered major discounts on “NBA 2K16” and its special edition for the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3, the PS Vita, and even the PSP, notes VG 24/7.
But “NBA 2K16” is not the only high-profile video game that got a major price cut. Other games like “Deadpool,” “Trials Fusion,” “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six,” “Citizens of Earth,” Toy Soldiers War Chest,” among several more also had their prices slashed up to as high as 50%.
Not to be outdone, Microsoft’s ‘Deals with Gold’ has also offered major discounts on “NBA 2K16” for its gaming consoles – the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.
Some of the most notable games that were included in the ‘Deals with Gold’ promo include “Deadpool,” “Mortal Kombat X,” World of Tanks,” “Dragon Ball Z,” among many others.
Same discounts on different gaming consoles
Interestingly, the discounts on the two editions of “NBA 2K16” and its add-ons were exactly the same on the Sony gaming consoles as in Microsoft’s ‘Deals with Gold,’ cites Windows Central.
From its original price of $59.99 for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the basic “NBA 2K16” video game is now being offered at $40.19.
The “NBA 2K16” 200,000 VCs is now being sold for $39.99, a 20% reduction from its original price of $49.99 while the “NBA 2K16” add-on of 450,000 VCs is now being retailed for $69.99, which is a 30% price cut from its original $99.99 retail price.
The “NBA 2K16” Michael Jordan Special Edition also gets a 40% discount and its new retail price is $49.59 from its original price of $79.99.
As the prices are time-bound, gamers are advised to take advantage of the limited time offer for them to be able to avail of the great discounts not only for “NBA 2K16” but other popular video games as well on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, as well as other gaming consoles.
Best shot blocker of all time
Last month, Miami Heat’s shot-blocking center Hassan Whiteside became the best shot blocker of all time in “NBA 2K16” following its recent roster updates in the second week of January.
The latest roster update to “NBA 2K16” brought some big changes in player ratings and the biggest among which is that of Hassan Whiteside who now has a 100% rating for blocking, which is a tribute to his being the league’s premier shot blocker these days.
It was actually game developer 2K Sports who declared Whiteside as the best shot blocker of all time.
In addition to Whiteside, other players who saw significant improvements on their ratings include DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, Isiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics, Kemba Walker of Charlotte Hornets, Tyreke Evans of the New Orleans Pelicans, Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies, J.J. Reddick of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
As much as there are gainers in the ratings, there were also those who suffered rating decline with the highest being experienced by Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers as he lost three points. Pau Gasol of the Chicago Bulls was the second in the list, losing two points. The others who lost one point apiece in the rating include Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons, Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Al Horford of the Atlanta Hawks.
The latest roster update also featured LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers keeping his 95 overall rating after getting a one-point bump up.
With the excellent showing of the New York Knicks in the current regular season, the ratings of Carmelo Anthony and rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis also got one-point increases at 88 and 80 points, respectively.
