Motorola has just disclosed that the Motorola Moto X Force that it will be launching in China and Europe in December will be launched in the US exclusively by Verizon Wireless as the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 in October.
This was confirmed by the usually reliable Motorola leaker who has a Twitter account named Upleaks, notes the GSM Arena.
According to Upleaks, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will have the same specifications and appearance as that of the Motorola Moto X Force. The only difference is that the Droid Turbo 2 will certainly carry the Verizon Wireless logo in it.
The second iteration of the Motorola flagship smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor and shall feature a 5.43-inch QHD display. It shall have a 3GB of RAM and shall come in either a 32GB or 64GB storage, a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper, and a generous 3,760 mAH battery.
A shatterproof smartphone
As previously reported, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will also come out as a shatterproof smartphone.
The rumors about the upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo 2 have constantly been piling up, but none can be more exciting to consumers than reports saying that the device would come with an unbreakable display screen.
Now that is something that big players like Apple or Samsung still has not come up with for their current line of smartphone and mobile devices.
Indicative that rumors about the display screen of Motorola Droid Turbo 2 being unbreakable are true was further fuelled when reports came out that the American smartphone maker is calling the prototype unit as the Motorola Bounce. Everyone knows that anything that bounces is unbreakable or made of rubber, but no detail has been released yet regarding the material that Motorola will use for its upcoming flagship smartphone.
The smartphone is also waterproof and it can withstand splashes and light rain. It can also be submerged up to 30 minutes in a maximum of 3.2 feet of water depth and it will still work thereafter, cites the Christian Post.
Its shatterproof and waterproof capabilities are due largely to its rubberized rear and sides. The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 shall be available in three colors including black, red, and white and it is likely that it will come out of the box already with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on it. It is also estimated that it will have a retail price of $620 when it hits the retail markets in the US.
Resembles Moto X Play
Based on the leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2, the smartphone actually looks more like the Motorola Moto X Play more than the Motorola Moto X Style but its sides are completely straight and don’t appear to taper off near the corner which is the attribute of the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style.
There were initial reports saying that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 would be launched in October, and there were also reports that it will come out in December. Now it becomes clear that the October rollout is for the US market while the December launching is for Europe and China.
The Motorola Droid Turbo would also be available in metallic black or red colors while the leaked image of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 shows a gray shell.
Reports also indicate that the company may make an announcement or a big reveal about the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 when it participates in the upcoming IFA event in Berlin, Germany.
Numerous leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 have made it to the internet as early as June. While no official announcement of statement has come from the American smartphone maker, the leaks were already more than enough to confirm the existence of the successor of Motorola’s flagship smartphone of 2014.
