Marvel’s Iron Man franchise has been quite popular over the years, but the truth be told, the movie failed to grab the kind of attention and popularity enjoyed by Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy. However, Iron Man 3 is not far behind, earning the sixth spot in the list of the top-grossing movies of all time, which is an achievement in itself.
Considering that Marvel is known to release sequels frequently, it is not surprising that they would choose to release a sequel to the popular title such as Iron Man. The X-Men and Spiderman series being the perfect example of what we are trying to establish here. Hence, we were not exactly surprised when a few calculated rumors started floating around the internet, stating that Iron Man 4 would release sometime in 2019.
Considering the situation and time frame, it is hardly surprising that we have shadowy details at best. Fans believe that Robert Downey Jr. will be back, donning the Iron Suit, although, a report stated that this could be sketchy, considering that the actor is already too old and doesn’t want to continue.
Robert thinks that his time of donning the suit is up and that a younger person should take over from him. Superhero movies are for the youngsters. Hence, it would be unfair for an older person to carry on after three successful titles.
Initial reports suggest that an actor aged between 20-30 years will continue donning the suit, although, his identity is yet to be established. The makers are yet to arrive at a concrete decision, even though they have a few names in mind. The latest rumor on the internet suggests that 13-year-old Ty Simpkins, also known as Harley Keener, will replace Robert Downer Jr. as the new Iron Man.
Simpkins is present in Jurassic World too and has an amicable and fluent screen presence. Even though Ty Simpkins might not fit the shoes of Harley Keener in the upcoming installment considering his tender age, although, he is the obvious choice for the character, considering his resemblances to Tony Stark.
The Iron Man franchise is also popular for its PS and Xbox games apart from quite a few online games too, which earn a sizeable amount through traffic inflow every day. Hence, if Iron Man 4 releases anywhere close to the initially speculated release date, there are high chances of it being ported to the gaming consoles.
However, Marvel’s kitty is filled at the moment with Thor 3, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Ant-Man up for release. This should provide the fans with sufficient entertainment till Iron Man 4 arrives at theaters.
