The fifth and reported final season of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” on Netflix shall see the demise of US President Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, which would give the presidency to his wife, Vice President Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright.
Previous reports have been saying that Frank will be murdered by his right-hand man Doug Stamper, played by Michael Kelly, on the insistence of Claire Underwood and using his relationship with Leann Harvey, played by Neve Campbell, as her ultimate leverage.
However, it seems very unlikely for Doug Stamper to pull the trigger on Frank Underwood because he has been the most trusted and loyal ally of the US president and turning his back on his boss in just a snap is rather unrealistic.
The rumors about the fifth season of “House of Cards” being its last began as soon as former showrunner Beau Willimon decided to leave the show after the Season 4 finale, reports Movie News Guide.
A Season 5 ending for “House of Cards” has become imminent when its UK counterpart just ended after five seasons.
A natural cause rather than murder
The speculations that Frank may die a natural death seem to be gaining a good foothold on the rumor mill.
It could be recalled that during the Season 4 of “House of Cards,” Frank was suffering from some liver disease.
So it is likely that the writers of the show will take that route to justify Frank’s death.
Despite speculations that the upcoming Season 5 of “House of Cards” could be its last, Netflix has yet to make a confirmation or denial of those rumors.
Although the TV series is facing much negativity, the show once again made a new milestone when it was made available on Sky in the UK for the first time ever.
So while waiting for the upcoming episodes of “House of Cards” Season 5, viewers can actually catch a marathon run of the first three seasons of the TV series on Sky without signing up for a Netflix account and subscribing to it, reports Game & Guide.
Planning something big for Season 5
Executive producer Beau Willimon of “House of Cards” on Netflix departed the show after the Season 4 finale.
He was eventually replaced by newbies Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, along with Michael Dobbs. While the three know that they have a big shoe to fill in because of the excellent handling of Willimon of the TV series over the last four seasons, they are planning to do something big for the Season 5 of the TV series.
In a recent interview, Gibson and Pugliese promised that Season 5 of “House of Cards” will be kicking up a storm as they also intend to create havoc in the storylines as well as the main characters of the TV series.
The speculations are rife that Season 5 of “House of Cards” could be the last for the TV show and it would feature the death of Frank Underwood and the eventual assumption to the presidency of Claire Underwood.
Subsequently, the rumors begin swirling about the possible cause of death of Frank. There were reports saying that his loyal ally in Doug Stamper shall kill his boss and there are also reports saying that Frank will fall ill that shall cause his demise.
In addition, there are also speculations saying that Claire will be plotting the death of Frank in Season 5 of “House of Cards,” Claire was elected as Vice President of the United States and with the death of her husband, she will be assuming the Presidency.
