The most successful animated film in history, “Frozen” showed Queen Elsa being the more serious of the two female children of the King and Queen of Arendelle because she believes that her powers are more of a curse rather than a gift.
But in the short animated film “Frozen Fever” that was shown in March last year along with the live-action movie “Cinderella,” Queen Elsa appears to have evolved and showed her fun personality.
Co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee confirmed that Queen Elsa shall be the focal point of the story of the sequel, “Frozen 2.”
They said that Elsa had such a dramatic journey of personal discovery in “Frozen” and at the end, she was just starting to feel like she can open up and ready to have some fun again.
He added that if there is one important thing that the short story “Frozen Fever” did, it showed that Elsa could actually have fun, citing that the same personality shall be exuded by the character for “Frozen 2,” reports the Vine Report.
No truth to Elsa’s rumored demise
There are also absurd rumors saying that Queen Elsa shall meet her demise in “Frozen 2.” Given the objective of the movie to come out with a decent message as per Buck and Lee, it is very unlikely that the movie shall feature the death of a fan-favorite character.
That particular plot speculation is one of the many that have been making the rounds online and should really be taken with a fine grain of salt.
Last month, actress Idina Menzel, who lends her voice to Queen Elsa, was seen at the Red Carpet of the AFI Life Achievement Awards and she was asked for an update on “Frozen 2.”
Menzel said that the movie is still in story-writing stage at that time, sort of confirming that the rumored plotlines are merely fan speculations.
She also joked that she is going to be part of “Frozen 2” as far as she knows unless the writers decide that Queen Elsa shall fall off the cliff and dies in the first five minutes of the film.
Apparently, the rumors about the possible demise of Elsa in “Frozen 2” emanated from Menzel’s joke.
Two strong female leads
Chris Buck also said that they shall be able to deliver a strong message for “Frozen 2” because the movie shall have two very strong female leads in Queen Elsa and Princess Anna.
The co-director said that he will keep going in the next one and that the movie shall tackle issues that boys and girls, men and women are now dealing with in society, notes the Ecumenical News.
He added that Disney movies are fun and entertaining. They also carry messages that are meant to shape up the minds and morals of the young audiences.
Buck explained that when kids watch them, they shall watch them over and over again and that if there is no decent message in “Frozen 2,” they are going to miss a great opportunity to be of value in molding the morals of the young ones.
Incidentally, without Disney being involved at all, “Frozen 2” has triggered a polarizing war on Twitter that pitted LGBT supporters who are vouching to see Queen Elsa having a girlfriend against social conservatives who prefer to see the ice queen have her prince charming.
Some netizens, on the other hand, simply want a stop to the seeming madness and just keep Elsa single just like in the first movie.
The third group wants Elsa as single by arguing that the young queen does not need any romantic interest to complete her.
