Despite Being a High-End Flagship Smartphone, OnePlus Two to Cost Just About $400 Upon Release

Much has been said last week about the possible release date of the OnePlus Two, the upcoming flagship smartphone from Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus, whose OnePlus One became the most exciting Android phone last year.

It has been reported that OnePlus Two will roll out to the retail markets in the third quarter of 2015 but there is no specifics as to the exact month and date when will the successor of OnePlus One make it.

Last week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau talked about the impressive features and specifications of the OnePlus Two, which would certainly be several notches better than the OnePlus One. He also confirmed earlier hints that the Chinese manufacturer will also be launching another low-end smartphone within the year called the OnePlus One Lite.

Although he did not state exactly the specific price for the OnePlus Two, word going around now is that the upcoming flagship smartphone will cost just about $400, which would really make it ultra-competitive, price-wise, to the current flagship handsets of other major smartphone makers in the world, notes the Christian Today.

The price of the OnePlus Two would really catch the attention of people who are always in the hunt for very good yet affordable smartphones. Considering the excellent track record of the OnePlus One, it would not be surprising if they start making a beeline to the retail stores once the OnePlus Two official hits the markets come the third quarter of 2015.

Competing head-on

OnePlus Two will be laden with marvelous specifications and features that will enable it to compete head-on and be at par with the flagship smartphones of Samsung, Apple and HTC.

This pronouncement came no less from Pete Lau when he recently hosted a session on fan forum Reddit where he confirmed that OnePlus Two will take on some of the most powerful flagships of 2015 including the Samsung Galaxy S6, the HTC One M9, and the upcoming iPhone.

In addition to the high-end OnePlus Two, it has been reported that the Chinese smartphone maker shall also be launching the low-end OnePlus Previous reports indicate that the OnePlus One Lite, as its name implies, will be a lighter version of the 2015 flagship and will be more affordable than the OnePlus Two.

Latest reports seem to indicate also that the Chinese smartphone maker would not be launching the two upcoming handsets simultaneously. It is rumored that the OnePlus One Lite would be launched towards the end of the year, while OnePlus Two expects to be launched in June and officially released to the market around the third quarter of this year.

Updated mobile operating system

But instead of having the Cyanogen OS for its Android-based mobile operating system just like its predecessor, OnePlus Two shall come out with the highly-touted Oxygen OS when it is formally introduced in June.

The decision has something to do with the formal ending of business relationship between the Chinese smartphone maker and CyanogenMod recently brought about by a legal mess that OnePlus got itself embroiled with lately with the India-based smartphone maker Micromax.
