‘Clash of Clans’ Takes 4 of the Top 10 Most Popular Video Ads on YouTube in December 2015!

Indicative of the global popularity of the freemium mobile strategy video game “Clash of Clans,” it actually took four of the Top 10 most popular video ads on the video-sharing site YouTube in December 2015 including the No. 1 spot.

In addition to the top spot, the video game developed by Finnish developer Supercell, also took the Numbers 2, 5, and 6 spots, reports Marketing Land.

“Clash of Clans” became the first-ever 360-degree video to break into the Top 10 list. Another mobile strategy game from Supercell, “Boom Beach” landed on the ninth spot, which means that the Finnish game developer practically owned half of the Top 10 list for December 2015.

Interestingly, the advertisements of “Clash of Clans” on YouTube featured Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz, last seen as Ernst Blofeld in the most recent James Bond movie “Spectre.”

The popularity of the video ads on YouTube is actually determined in terms of number of views and “Clash of Clans” ad which landed on the No. 1 spot earned 62.9 million views in total. The ad spot of “Boom Beach” on No. 9 earned 6.2 million views.

Most watched leaderboards

With more than 100 million combined views and almost three million hours of watch time, YouTube said that its December 2015 ad leaderboard was one of the most watched leaderboards last year.

However, it seems that 2016 will be tough for Supercell to maintaining the popularity of its hit online game “Clash of Clans” because its latest update called ‘Town Hall 11’ has been beset by plenty of issues and problems particularly with regards to personal break timers that had many gamers really annoyed and disappointed.

Because of the storm of complaints, Supercell immediately released a major update to fix the bug but it came out only as optional to gamers.

As a result of the bug fix, “CoC” players are no longer forced into a Personal Break when they had already been offline for a period of time.

The fix also increased the Personal Break online time limit to four hours and it shall also reset itself when a “CoC” player has been offline for 15 minutes without either a Shield or a Village Guard.

During the launching of the ‘Town Hall 11’ update, the Personal Break online time limit had been set for three hours and “CoC” players needs to be offline for 30 minutes without a Shield and Village Guard before it resets.

Supercell has also increased the Personal Break time limit extension from 15 to 30 minutes. The extension is only activated if a “Clash of Clan” player is kicked out of the game while not being attacked or if he takes a defence without a shield.

The fix also extends the Village Guard buff in all league levels and activates when a Shield expires. For Below Champion level, the Village Guard will stay active for 30 minutes while all Champion levels will now have a one-hour Village Guard.

Problem with looting feature

Supercell is reportedly facing another round of backlash from gamers about the game’s looting feature.

The Finnish game developer has responded to their gamers about the looting issue and offered a compromise. The team spoke about the things they can and cannot do, details the Latinos Health.

Clash of Clans

Gamers were disappointed that they can no longer place their Town Hall outside the walls making looting a struggle. Supercell stood firm on its decision to keep the set-up permanent.

For the development team, every player should keep their Town Hall within their walls because it is the heart of their village and it should be protected at all cause.

According to Supercell staff Anoushka in one gamer forum, “Clash of Clans” was never intended to be played that way so the change is here to stay.
