The speculation surrounding the new release in the “Batman” series is growing more and more rapidly with each new release of marketing materials from the studio, and recently, they’ve released the second and third installments of a series of gameplay videos showcasing the main gameplay elements. Other than that though, there’s more and more speculation about the identity of the game’s main antagonist, the Arkham Knight – and according to a recent leak allegedly coming straight from the studio, the truth might be a bit shocking to some. Major spoilers below!
The details were revealed in a thread on an online messaging board, in which an employee of Rocksteady (or so they claimed) posted information about the game’s plot. According to him, the Arhkam Knight is actually a biological clone of Bruce Wayne, and he was created by Dr. Amanda Blake Waller, who wanted a copy of Batman for herself.
Apparently, he wasn’t the first attempt at cloning the Batman either, as possibly indicated by his designation. The story will see some twists and turns, one of which will involve the Robins. The Arkham Knight will apparently grow jealous of Batman and his relationship with them, and will decide to intervene. At the same time, he believes that he’s the better Batman, and is prepared to go a long way to take the title from the game’s protagonist.
As we mentioned above, this is all very speculative, and should be taken with a big grain of salt. The information was apparently posted on 4chan, and if history is any indication, its legitimacy could very well go both ways. On one hand, various leaks from 4chan have turned out to be true before – but there have also been plenty of disappointments coming out of the messaging board. Its anonymous nature means that anyone can easily share information, which has benefits as well as disadvantages.
So far though, the new “Batman” game is shaping up to be very interesting, and it’s apparent that Rocksteady have put a lot of effort into crafting a fine experience for their players, and aren’t shy to show that either. The game’s release is being spearheaded by a pretty massive marketing campaign, and the developers keep showing off the various special new features that they have prepared for the new engine.
Not that much is officially known about the game’s plot yet, on the other hand, but it’s expected that this will change close to the release date, though of course nobody is expecting any major spoilers to be unveiled by the developers themselves. Rocksteady do seem to have a solid plan for releasing information about their upcoming title, so it will be interesting to follow the game’s development until its release.
