Subaru has just released this summer the Series.HyperBlue special variant of its latest sports sedans, the 2016 models of the WRX STI and the BRZ.
According to The News Wheel, the special package had been available on the 2015 Subaru BRZ last year to great success prompting the Japanese carmaker to replicate it again on the 2016 edition of the same coupe and the 2016 WRX STI.
It’s a limited edition as only 700 units of the 2016 WRX STI will be made available in the United States, which is actually 200 more units compared to the 2016 BRZ.
The 2016 Subaru Series.HyperBlue BRZ will retail for $27,960 while the 2016 Subaru Series.HyperBlue WRX STI will be sold for $38,995.
More than just a paintjob
The Series.HyperBlue is actually more than just a paintjob. The special edition 2016 Subaru WRX STI will have an 18-inch BBS Black Alloy wheels. The same blue theme of the exterior carries over to the interiors with the Hyper Blue stitching standard Alcantara seats.
The variant will feature the Subaru Starlink 7.0-inch multimedia navigation system with 9 Harman/Kardon speakers and a 440-watt amplifier.
The steering wheel, which has a tilt and telescoping feature, also sports Bluetooth and audio, and an electro-luminescent gauge panel incorporates a 3.5-inch central LCD screen to display information the driver needs while driving.
There is also the keyless access with push-button start and PIN code access feature. The WRX STI special edition includes welcome lighting that illuminates as the driver approaches or leaves the car.
The good-looking and the ugly
The Subaru WRX is one of the hottest selling cars on both the new and the used car markets. The strong sales and demand of the 2016 model of the sports sedan is a testament to how well-received the vehicle is after it was officially launched in the market a few months ago.
However, some critics cite that it has a common attribute with the Pontiac Aztec, which many say as one of the ugliest cars ever to come out of a car manufacturing plant, cites Torque News.
Lest Subaru complains, the common denominator between the two vehicles, that are actually poles apart in terms of appearance and appeal, both models actually belong to the list of top 10 used cars that have a higher rate of millennial buyers than any other cars.
Millennial buyers belong to the 18 to 34 years old category.
The Subaru WRX is on the third spot of the Top 10 list which is hardly surprising given the demand of the sports sedan among the younger buyers. But the surprise is actually with the Pontiac Aztec which is No. 6 on the list. It is a surprise because the Aztec is no longer in production yet for some reason, younger buyers still want to own a secondhand unit of the model.
The 2016 Subaru WRX is a sporty-looking performance sedan that drives like a sports car minus the hefty price. That is why it is also referred to as a sublime sports car.
Compared to its predecessor variants, the 2016 Subaru WRX has better fuel economy and much more responsive suspension set-up, giving the driver excellent control, handling, and maneuverability of the sedan. These characteristics are considered rare for a turbocharged car.
