It's a big "IF". the smaller engine is definately a problem. Nissan shed a lot of buyers by making that move, and while toyota claim to have been talking to owners about what to do with the new model, we have 5 in the family, and i've been asking everyone i know with one, and nobody has suggested a smaller engine as an improvement. In fact, quite the opposite. I realise on paper smaler engines can and do produce more power, but in the real world theres no replacement for displacement.... a larger, lower stressed, less turbo reliant (and cooler engine bay) engine tends to be more reliable and less peaky..... I wont be buying the next model.
