The cast and crew members of “The Vampire Diaries” have finally finished shooting the series finale and many of the characters took to social media to share their experiences and messages as well as thank the fans for the show’s successful eight-year run.
The cast members even released a lot of nostalgic photos of the characters huddling together on-and-off the set to give fans what they have asked for so long.
Executive producer Julie Plec thanked all the fans who supported the show from the beginning until its end, and for showing their love, and passion to the cast and crew members of “The Vampire Diaries.” She also expressed her gratefulness for being given that experience.
It can be recalled that about a month ago, it has already been confirmed that Nina Dobrev shall return to the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” Fans expected that the actress shall reprise her role as Elena Gilbert in order to wrap up her characters’ storyline.
Following the news that Nina Dobrev did confirm her much-awaited return on the final episode of the hit vampire TV series, the actress recently made her goodbye on social media after the filming of the last episode.
Dobrev posted a photo of ‘The Giving Keys’ on her Instagram account as a gift for the crew and cast members. She also added her heart-warming and inspirational message to top it off. She mentioned that the custom-engraved keys she made for her “TVD” family support job creation advocacy through a Pay-It-Forward community.
The lines engraved in the keys include “TVD” as the series title and #FOREVER which is also her way of saying her final goodbye to fans. She already made her first goodbye at the end of Season 6.
Dobrev is very grateful for the show because it gave her the break and became the springboard for her acting career.
The 28-year-old actress added that the series finale is a beautiful closure and the production staff has made sure that each character gets their fitting finales. She also said that the finale of the show is a mixed of nostalgia, love, and bittersweet endings.
Dobrev also teased the fans that they are all going to be happy and satisfied with the ending of “The Vampire Diaries.”
She also said that she is greatly thankful to her fans for the many years they have expressed their love and support for her, appreciating how the viewers stick with her and fellow cast members throughout the show’s journey.
The actress hopes that fans would still follow them even if they all go separate ways in the years to come.
She added that she practically grew as an actress on the show and that she is eternally grateful for the opportunities that it has given her to further her acting career.
Apart from Elena Gilbert, Nina Dobrev has portrayed other characters in the TV series, including Elena doppelgangers Amara and Katherine Pierce.
She also appeared in “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off series, “The Originals” to play the role of Tatia, the ancestor of her doppelgangers, who had past romances with the original vampires, Elijah and Klaus Mikaelson.
It can be remembered that Dobrev left the show after Season 6, with a cliffhanger of Kai linking her life to Bonnie through a spell, which opens a door for her possible return to the TV series.
Now that she is confirmed to reprise her original character in the show, fans of the TV series are now waiting with bated breaths for the final airing of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 on March 17.
Previously, it has been revealed that Chris Wood will indeed be back on the show to reprise his character, Kai. Towards the end of the latest episode, he interrupted Damon Salvatore and Alaric Saltzman by saying that he has a better idea of defeating the season’s main villain, Cade.
Now that it has been confirmed that his return is a possible way to make Elena come back to life and that already gave a clue to fans how Dobrev would return to the show.
