The final 10 episodes of “Pretty Little Liars” is nearing its premiere and along with Freeform’s latest teaser for the second half of Season 7 comes the show’s executive producer dishing out what fans can expect when the show returns.
Marlene King sat with the press during TV Critics’ Association winter press tour earlier this week and let them in on what’s to come before the Freeform drama closes.
For starters, King said that a certain episode will involve musical numbers. Co-showrunner Oliver Goldstick reveals that the whole cast is so talented beyond acting and he wanted to show off their talents for this season.
Another thing Marlene revealed is that there will be another time jump. Much like the five-year time jump from Season 6A to Season 6B was a major step forward with the story, the showrunner dishes that there will be another one-year time jump before the series wraps up.
Also, that teaser when the four Liars were rushing to warn Allison in her classroom that someone is coming after her will finally be shown. While many fans have probably forgotten that, producer Joseph Dougherty promised that they will get back to it.
He adds that during the last 10 episodes, the deeper fans get into the episodes, the denser the episodes get. This includes learning more about Allison DiLaurentis and her family.
Now that the big secret’s out about Mary Drake being Charlotte and Spencer’s mom, a lot of questions point to the DiLaurentis family.
Marlene promised that all questions will be answered in the last 10 episodes, and while that may not be a possibility for the fans, they sure are hoping to get closures for each and every character.
King also teases that while the road looks clear for the Liars and their high school boyfriends to get back together, that might not be necessarily the case. The showrunner teases that fans will be surprised in the end, but left a cryptic statement saying that all those who are meant to be together, will be together in the end.
The biggest teaser that Marlene dropped perhaps is that the last 10 episodes will revolve around a board game alluding to A.D. playing the girls.
Season 7B premiere will see A.D. gifting the girls a board game, wherein they will be forced to play. The stakes are also incredibly high and the Liars cannot afford to lose.
She adds that the final 10 episodes are a tribute to the show’s fans, who have stuck with them through the past seven seasons. King says that the last chapter of the show is a love letter to their fans.
Some of the cast were also present during the press tour. Lucy Hale, who plays Aria Montgomery, reveals that most of them were always out of the loop with what’s about to happen in the show.
The actress says that they are equally confused as the fans on the show. They usually would know what is happening when they have finished filming a scene because they don’t film it in sequence.
Hale adds that the whole cast is excited for the fans to see the last 10 episodes and how it all goes down for their beloved characters.
Ashley Benson, who plays Hanna Marin, earlier revealed that the identity of A.D. will be revealed in the series finale.
In her interview, she adds that everyone was shocked in the reveal and that she’s certain fans will react the same way too.
