Beloved Mexican actress, Itati Cantoral returns in Orange is the New Black (OITNB). The famous telenovela villain from the mega hit Maria la del Barrio in the 90s is once again Soraya Montenegro in the Litchfield penitentiary.
In the teaser trailer released by Netflix below, it shows Cantoral in a hilarious “fangirling” exchange with the dynamic duo, Flaca and Martiza.
Instead of being terrified by the vicious, terrorizing but quite hilarious remarks of Cantoral, Flaca reveals she’s a huge fan. They asked that Cantoral would play the infamous “maldita lisiada” line but the duo did it instead until Cantoral herself showed them how it’s done. Big Boo joined them too and admitted she’s a fan. By the end of the video, they all portrayed “cries in Spanish”.
According to the HuffPost, her comeback is limited for promotional video only and will not be an inmate in the show.
Since its inception, Orange is the New Black had received positive reviews. Now on its 5th Season, it still makes the fans and viewers intrigued by the show. The story revolves around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) a public relations executive with a career and a fiancé. She all seemed so happy and content with her life until her past catches up with her. She was sentenced to spend time in a minimum-security women’s prison in Connecticut for her association with a drug runner 10 years ago. Piper adjusts her life behind bars, at the same time making friends with eccentric, unusual and unexpected people.
Jenji Kohan, creator and showrunner of OITNB told The New York Times in an interview that she hasn’t decided on the conclusion of the series or when it will happen. “I haven’t decided on the conclusion of the series yet, but I’m leaning toward ending it after seven – although the nature of the show is one that can go on and on because you can bring in new people,” she said.
The season 5 ended in a major cliffhanger with the riot and the stars themselves are not sure if they’re going to die or not. They haven’t received any script yet, that’s why they really have no idea.
Lauren Morelli, a writer and producer of the series, confirmed that the next installment will follow on directly from season 5 and will deal with the consequences of the riot.
It’s certain that the Emmy-award winning series is renewed until season seven. What are not certain are the characters ad actors who play your favorite inmate and their storyline for the rest of the seasons.
The series will seem to go further than expected. Although the show’s main leading character, Piper is sentenced only for 18 months. After that what will happen? Are there going to be a new leading character and Ms. Schilling would exit the show? Or would the consequences in the riot involve making her stay more in the penitentiary? We can only assume and wait until the next season.
Netflix has not confirmed yet when season six will return but we can guess it will probably around the middle of 2018.
