Nicki Minaj is not the type of person who would take a diss sitting down and she recently took offense for the latest rap song of Remy Ma which seems to carry an explicit expression of hatred against her.
The “Super Bass” singer immediately took to social media to make her thoughts heard by her followers and also by Remy Ma.
On February 26, Remy Ma, which is short for Reminisce Mackie, announced on Twitter her newly released rap song titled “ShEther.” Subsequently, a social media war erupted between her and Nicki Minaj.
Apparently, Remy Ma’s new rap song made some references to Nicki Minaj’s song titled “Ether” which was released in 2001.
In addition to the title of her new track, Remy Ma also shared on her account a photo of the song’s cover art which somehow made it clear that the song she released is indeed about Nicki Minaj. The lyrics of the rap song directly points to the “Anaconda” rapper/singer, and Remy Ma seems to enjoy the public controversy generated by her new track.
Remy Ma’s new rap song came out one day after the release of Nicki Minaj’s “Make Love” rap collaboration with Gucci Mane.
It was clear that the verses on Nicki’s collaboration with Gucci Mane also hints of her disgust on her competition, as she brags about being the queen of rap who has a had a handful of chart-topping and top-selling records to be labeled as No. 1.
Many fans and critics have assumed that Remy Ma’s song was her response to Nicki Minaj’s subliminal lyrics.
In “ShEther”, Remy Ma extensively raps the song with the list of Nicki Minaj’s slew of past mistakes, which actually made the track a mockery of the “Anaconda” singer.
The rap song also mentions of Minaj’s sense of style, the men she slept with like Gucci Mane and Drake, as well as her recent feud with Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey.
While some claim that it was just a part of the rap battle between the greatest female rappers but for Remy Ma, it was something deeper than that because she boldly used the rap to really hit back at Nicki.
Even Wikipedia joined the social media feud by updating Remy Ma’s profile with a false rumor noting that she has killed Nicki Minaj this year and was put into prison for eight years, which was actually mentioned in her song as well.
Nicki Minaj fired back at Remy Ma by posting a photo on her Instagram citing the sales figures of her song and Remy Ma’s track with Fat Joe. The photo immediately generated up to more than 11,000 likes.
The part of the article already speaks for itself noting that Minaj readied herself to respond to Remy Ma’s rap song but she later deleted it. However, many were able to have noted Minaj revulsion on social media.
After the rap song battle between the two rappers/singers, critics and fans were wondering if there is a personal issue between the two.
It was soon discovered that the two female rappers have a history of accusations and misinterpretations that have been buzzing around since Remy Ma’s was released from her eight-year prison sentence after being convicted of intentional assault after shooting a member of her entourage in 2004.
But Nicki is ready with her own verse to counter the diss of Remy Ma as she is also determined to prove that she is the queen of rap according to Beyonce no less.
Aside from being dissed by Remy Ma, Nicki Minaj also had to contend with another social media issue over the weekend.
The “Bang Bang” rapper also got a short notice about her partnership with clothing line Kmart, which shall no longer be renewed.
While the partnership deal has ended late last year, the topic was brought to light once again as an unofficial Twitter account of Kmart posted a tweet announcing the reason behind the discontinued partnership with Nicki Minaj.
