As the president- elect Donald Trump, will be unable to host the reality show Celebrity Apprentice. The world will not get to hear the catchphrase “You’re fired!”, any more on the NBC TV show.
Instead, the viewers will get to see the new host of the show, who debuted this Monday on The New Celebrity Apprentice, Arnold Schwarzenegger using his self-referential catchphrase “You’re Terminated. Now get to the chopper!” instead.
The previously actor, who later turned governor of California used a mixture of references from his action movie roles in Predator and the Terminator series to eliminate the first contestant who lost in this season, actress Carrie Keagan.
In the year 2015 Trump left the show as he had his heart set on exploring his possibilities at the presidential path. Later on, subsequentto his racist anti-Mexican comments during his announcement speech, NBC officially cut any relationship with Trump.
Nevertheless, the show’s production corporation rebranded the TV show, got hold of a new celebrity host, and sustained its relationship with the network, all the while Trump continuedto be the executive producer.
All we can do in America in 2017 is stare at former reality show contestants, YouTube celebrities, sports figure and pop stars, and think about the powerful reality that brands have brought forth.
Either that or we can simply listen to Schwarzenegger chant his most famous lines “I’m back”, “You’re terminated”, then Hasta la vista, baby and Crush your enemies, see them driven before you; this one is from Conan the Barbarian, and let ourselves be soothed into the fantasy that individuals more well-known than us can tell what’s best.
Unless you have spent a lot of time already viewing reality shows or televised sports, the contestants for this season will need some introductions.
Although, there are actors to the likes of Jon Lovitz, Boy George, MötleyCrüe’s Vince Neal and Wilson Phillips’ Carnie Wilson, there are also two retired football players Eric Dickerson and Ricky Williams, a boxer, Laila Ali, a retired WNBA player and former Olympian Lisa Leslie and the ex-MMA fighter and convicted money launderer) ChaelSonnen.
The list doesn’t just stop there, there is also the reality show contingent: Matt Iseman, who happens to be the American Ninja Warrior host, Carson Kressley who is from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Brooke Burke-Chavet from Dancing with the Stars, Kyle Richards of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Carrie Keagan the “YouTube celebrity”, Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi of Jersey Shore fame and Porsha Williams from Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The advisers of Schwarzenegger areTyra Banks and, maintaining the Trump tradition of including family, Schwarzenegger’s nephew, who is an entertainment lawyer Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger.
The first challenge, not very surprisingly, was to help out Banks’s new make-up project, calledTyra Beauty. The project endeavours to “transform your face in five minutes with six products”, all of which were in stick form. They divided the contestants into two teams, men into Team Arete while women were clubbed into Team Prima, and the teams got to work designing apreliminary event.
The project manager of Team Prima was Williams, whose planning session was more attentive towards the aesthetics of the presentation than the content. At the event, Prima voted to have the models put on their own make-up, to prove the ease of the five-minute face, with Burke-Chavet hosting.
